American Vintage sizing guide: Find your fit

American Vintage is the French label with the trans-Atlantic name. Confused? You shouldn’t be. Each American Vintage piece reflects influences from the US, both in impeccably casual cut and - in many pieces - a very deliberately aged look. Only the best will do when it comes to selecting materials. As founder Michaël Azoulay puts it: "We only choose the most beautiful, such as Pima cotton from Peru, harvested by hand.” With the label now enjoying global success - including, ironically, stores in the US - so American Vintage has taken on a cultural role too, sponsoring a major photographic prize.

Marseille-based Michaël Azoulay was just 23 when he founded the label in 2005, inspired by a trip to the US. Back home he assembled a team to design the perfect t-shirt and American Vintage was born. Those t-shirts remain at the heart of the label’s pieces today, along with rapid expansion into everything from a full menswear range to women’s dresses and jeans. Always, as Azoulay puts it today, "we do everything so that it has a soul and triggers emotions.” Not just that, but sustainability too, with denim, so often water-rich in production, at the heart of the company’s efforts to reduce its impact on the planet.

American Vintage pieces fit generally true to your usual size. The label does use its own sizing standards for some of its clothing, so it may be wise to consult our handy size chart to convert to the sizing standard that you’re most accustomed to. We’ve included US and EU sizing conventions for maximum convenience.
